Factorio main bus guide.

In my vanilla runs, I'd build a bus to kickstart the endgame, but after about 10 hours of spaghetti grinding through the first 4 tech cards, was already dreading the absolute monstrosity of a bus even before reading your post that you just put "everything" on it. The prospect of a bus with dozens of items on it does not excite me.

The judge's votes are in: You sir have a megabase. (I would suggest that a couple of the defining characteristics are (1) the use of a main bus, (2) the second is having sufficient productivity to need a main bus of a certain size, (3) that the required main bus size should exceed 2 lanes of Iron and Copper Plates-- others may argue the threshold is higher, (4) for your base to exceed the area ...The best possible way to balance the belts is to calculate how many belts you would need for the process (for example with factorio calculator) and separate those belts from your main bus, so your main bus will be decreasing over time.. So, prepare to manually check every single assembly step of the level 3 modules in order to find what exactly it is you are lacking. b) Start at the front: smelting. So, you want to eliminate belts, that means your raw materials will be shipped in by trains. Those trains unload into passive provider chests.

Starting with using your bus for inputs to Processing units is fine, but they will quickly consume so much material that you will want an extra production of red&green circuits just for them. Train bus A popular alternative to the main bus pattern. Instead of using a belt bus to provide materials for various production cells, a large rail system allows many trains to route materials between more distant cells, sometimes called subfactories. It's a UPS-friendlier strategy for large factories such as megabases. Trash can

But for megabase, ditch the bus. The main point about using a bus is that it makes it easy to expand the factory. You can add new "limbs" anywhere, and if your limbs are well-designed you can extend the individual limbs. With an ad-hoc layout, you really need to crunch the numbers and work out the ratios in advance.

There are two primary schools of thought for expanding a Factorio base: Get as much running as possible in the shortest amount of time and build where you can, or use what's called a main bus and other organization methods. I'm starting to actually find uses for it. For 1, I started this map with a main bus. So my base is long. Using the car up and down the bus is great. Also, I can move chests really easily with a car. Just put a bunch of inserters around the crate, park out front, and empty it in a few seconds. I started learning safer paths without rocks/trees.

yeah but just to reiterate what other people have been saying --- there isn't a TON of variety in factorio seeds. every map will have a starting ore patch, a "starting area", and a source of water nearby. the starting patch always has iron, coal, copper, and stone --- everything you need to get started and get exploring.

Personally, my bus right now has: 8 belts of iron, 8 copper, 4 green chips, 4 plastic, 2 steel, 2 coal, 2 red. I don't recommend this much throughput, espically for anyone asking for advice. by Wizard7187. I have this opinion because of one big disadvantage of a big bus. You can't expand a bus. This is a really big problem in a game about building an evergrowing factory.
